LAURA NEEDHAM, DPT
Laura is a native of Charlotte, NC where she ran Cross Country for Providence High School. Prior to earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at East Carolina University, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology at UNC Chapel Hill where she found her passion for health and fitness.
While completing her undergraduate degree Laura met her husband, a Clemson Tiger, who she ventured eastward with as he served in the U.S. Air Force in Goldsboro, NC. During this time in eastern NC, Laura earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at ECU, which offered her a plethora of opportunities, including working with the Carolina Hurricanes. Experiences such as this increased Laura’s love for working with athletes and her desire for a career in orthopedic physical therapy. While earning her Doctorate, she performed extensive research on athletes who had undergone ACL reconstruction, studying the various factors which increase/decrease the risk of re-injuring the ACL. Performing research such as this allows her to gear her patient’s plan of care towards evidence based practice.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys kayaking, traveling, and hiking with her husband and 2 yellow Labradors. She also enjoys tennis and running, and has completed multiple half marathons across NC/SC. Laura’s optimistic, caring, and passionate personality allow her to provide individualized care for her patients, listening carefully to their goals to allow them to achieve the best results possible.
