Director of Sports Performance
Ciaravella brings over a decade of allied healthcare experience to Phoenix staff. At Phoenix, she assists the physical therapists with progressive rehabilitation techniques, directs the wellness programs and assists with the Titleist Golf Performance Program.
Prior to Phoenix, Ciaravella spent 13 seasons as a strength and conditioning specialist/ assistant athletic trainer within the Women’s Professional Basketball Association, serving with the Washington Mystics, Connecticut Sun, and Miami Sol. During her tenure, she was developed conditioning and post-rehabilitation programs that lead to eight playoff berths, two championships runs and was named 2006 WNBA Coaching Staff of the Year. Ciaravella also held strength and conditioning coaching positions at the University of Miami, Florida Atlantic University and at Lynn University (Boca Raton, Fla.).
In addition to her team-based roles, she has personally worked with a long roster of pro athletes and coaches, including legendary football coach Howard Schnellenberger, Miami Heat Assistant Coach and NBA legend Ron Rothstien, future NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter and Randy Moss, Olympic Gold medalists Ruth Riley, Katie Smith, and Alana Beard.
In 2010, Ciaravella was honored by being one of five strength coaches nationally appointed to assist First Lady, Michele Obama in the launch of the Presidential Fitness Initiative “Let’s Move”. Ciaravella has achieved certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the National Athletic Training Association, International Weightlifting Federation, Titileist Golf Performance Institute and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She received her Masters of Sports and Athletic Administration from Lynn University and a B.S. in Sports Medicine from Elon University (Elon, N.C.).
