Lisa Ciaravella, ATC, CSCS, MBA
Director of Sports Performance


Ciaravella is a nationwide front runner in the area of strength and speed development. In addition to overseeing the sports performance program at Phoenix, she assists the physical therapists with progressive rehabilitation techniques. Ciaravella also serves as Head Strength Coach for the WNBA Connecticut Sun, where she has been instrumental to the team's four playoff berths and two championships runs and was named 2006 WNBA Coaching Staff of the Year. Her experience in the sports world enhances her ability to develop top-of-the-line training programs for Phoenix clients.


Prior to founding Phoenix, Ciaravella was the head strength coach and assistant athletic trainer for the WNBA Miami SOL, and held strength and conditioning coaching positions at Lynn University (Boca Raton, Fla.), the University of Miami and Florida Atlantic University. In addition to her team-based roles, she has personally worked with a long roster of pro athletes and coaches, including legendary football coach Howard Schnellenberger, Connecticut Women's Basketball Hall of Famer Joan Joyce, wide receiver Randy Moss, basketball forward Vince Carter, Olympian Ruth Riley (USA Basketball) and tennis great Steffi Graf.

Ciaravella has achieved certification with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the National Athletic Training Association, and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She received her Masters of Sports and Athletic Administration from Lynn University and a B.S. in Sports Medicine from Elon University (Elon, N.C.).

Tatum Robinson, MPT
Physical Therapist


A native of Gastonia, N.C., Robinson is a practicing physical therapist (PT) in outpatient orthopedics with a passion for sports medicine. She joined Phoenix following her role as clinical director for the Sports Plus Physical Therapy-Riverwood clinic in Gastonia, where she worked with outpatient orthopedics and vestibular and musculoskeletal disorders. She also worked closely with local physicians and high school athletic trainers to treat injured athletes and return them to playing status as quickly as possible.

Robinson began her career as a PT after graduating from Elon University's Master of Physical Therapy program in 2002. Following graduation she joined the outpatient physical therapy staff at Davis Regional Medical Center in Statesville, N.C., where she treated varying diagnoses including sports-specific injuries, worker's compensation injuries, vestibular disorders, and general orthopedic, musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.

Jonathon Vance
Performance Enhancement Specialist/Physical Therapy Tech

Jonathon is a highly motivated individual that has a passion for both sports and the rehabilitation process. A native of Denver, NC and former East Lincoln High School baseball and basketball player, Vance transfers his skills into increasing athlete’s stamina, speed, and agility through Phoenix’s Sports Performance Programs. He received a Bachelor of Exercise Science from Liberty University located in Lynchburg Virginia. Before coming to Phoenix in 2006 he was a personal trainer and physical therapy technician in Lynchburg. He enjoys both the physical therapy and the sports performance part of his job equally, and says the best part of his job is getting to work hands-on with people. Vance is as a candidate for the National Academy of Sports Medicine’s Performance Enhancement Specialist.
